![]() ![]() This is my personal opinion and doesn't reflect the views of FXHOME), I think part of the problem is, over the last few years, the term "effect" is thrown around too casually and too generically. Speaking personally (disclaimer, forum mods aren't FXHOME Staff, we're paid volunteers. Just remember wiggle is a value randomizer, picking a range of random values in a defined range around the start value.) ![]() Wiggle is often used in Ae for camera shake, but Hitfilm has a shake plugin. For lighting effects, in Hitfilm, we'd use the flicker effect. (Terry, "wiggle" in AE is an expression modifier that introduces random variation in the linked parameter. It's not the flicker you want, but, if you put that on a grade layer with a feathered mask around the fire you get the proper distortion. To make this less tedious, keyframe a few frames of values close together, then copy/paste those keys through the timeline (you could even paste the keys twice, then recopy all the keys and paste the larger brings up a good point about heat distortion. If you don't want to spend the money the manual way of doing this would be to create a grade layer, mask the area you want to flicker, use some color effects to generate a brighter area, then keyframe the effect or the opacity of the layer. The VFX: Lighting Pack contains Flicker, which will do what you want automatically, along with a few other effects. ![]()
